Updating the payment method for your engagement

How to change the card or bank account used to pay your engagement fees

You can change the credit card or bank account we charge for an engagement's fees yourself in Konsole. The new details apply from your next scheduled payment.

Before you start

You can update your payment method once you've signed the engagement and authorised its fees. If the fees are still waiting for you to authorise them, you'll see Select payment method instead. Follow those prompts.

Have one of these ready:

  • Credit card: the name on the card, card number, expiry date and CCV.

  • Bank direct debit: the account name, BSB and account number of an Australian bank account.

Your card or bank details go straight to Stripe, our payment processor. Kearney Group staff never see them. Read more in Security when paying invoices and authorising engagements.

Update your payment method

  1. Log in to Konsole and select Engagements from the menu. Under Active or Upcoming Engagements, select the engagement you want to update.

  2. Select Edit Payment Details.

  3. Under Fees to authorise, the green box shows the payment method on file and who authorised it. Select Edit payment method.

If your engagement has fees in more than one part, each part has its own Edit payment method button. Update each part you want to change.

  4. Choose Credit Card or Bank Direct Debit.

  5. Enter your new details, then select Authorise.

    • Credit card: name on card, card number, expiry date and CCV.

    • Bank direct debit: account name, BSB and account number. The text under the button is the Direct Debit Request agreement you're accepting, so take a moment to read it.

Picked the wrong option? Select Change payment type to go back.

  6. You'll come back to the authorisation page with the message Payment method has been updated. The green box now shows your new card or account.

What happens next

Nothing is charged when you update your details. Your next scheduled payment comes from the new card or account, and every payment after that.

  • Your old details stop being used for this engagement.

  • Your payment dates and amounts don't change. The authorisation page shows the day of the month your fees are billed.

  • Each engagement keeps its own payment method. If the same card pays for more than one, update each of them.

  • We'll still send you an invoice for every payment, and let you know before any automatic debit.

Troubleshooting

I can't see the Edit Payment Details button

The button appears once you've signed the engagement and authorised its fees. Some engagements can't be changed online. If yours is one of them, contact your adviser and we'll update it for you.

My card was declined, or I saw an error

A message at the top of the page explains what went wrong. Check the details you entered and try again. If it keeps happening, try a different card or contact your bank.

My bank asked me to confirm the change

Some banks ask you to approve a new payment authority in their app or with a code. Complete that step and you'll be returned to Konsole.

Is there a surcharge?

No. The amount is the same whether you pay by card or direct debit.
